As stated before we live in a bunker that has limited resources, sure there are hydroponics and other sources of renewable growths of food, heck there is even rumor of animal pens in the bunker (and not just the ones in the corridors). But to make easier to feed the plebeians (that is you and me) in the beginning when we entered the bunker and was feed our first meal the powers that be started to replace trace amounts of our food with Neo Biomass, a term they are using for a substance that does have nourishment in it, but is produced wholly artificially. They have increased the amount of this substance in our food more and more as time has gone by, without telling us that they did it, and without telling us how it is made, and what kinds of effects it has on our bodies.

After I got the information about the Neo Biomass from my sources, and after I realized this truth I refused to eat that gunk that they are selling us and I get my food from other sources.
